Program Description

Players:
Find your child’s age group by locating the month and year he or she was born on the Age Groups page, under the Registration Tab.

Teams:
HRSA assigns players to teams. Parents that have volunteered to coach will be assigned to a team with their child(ren). HRSA’s goal is to assign up to 8 players per team for ages U5 – U7, 8-10 players per team for U8, 10-14 players per team for the U9/U10 program, and 12-18 for U11 and older.

Coaches:
Coaches are volunteers and HRSA provides soccer and age specific training for each coach at the beginning of each season. The training instructs volunteer coaches on teaching methods that are appropriate for the age of the team they coach. The training also instructs what is appropriate to expect for the age of their players. Instruction is provided by highly experienced and USSF licensed soccer professionals.

Ball and Uniform:
U5-U8 teams practice and play with a size three (3) soccer ball, U9-U12 teams will use a size four (4). All players are required to wear the official Hattrix uniform during games. The blue and white reversible jersey with Hattrix logo is provided by The Sports Authority for $13.95. Black shorts and white or black socks complete the uniform. Shorts and socks may be purchased from Sports Authority or any other provider.

Game Format:
U5 – U7 play small-sided soccer; this means that there are four players playing against another team of four players (4 versus 4). The field is much smaller than a regulation size soccer field and the goal is smaller. There are no goalkeepers (goalies). The game consists of two 15 minute halves and a 5 minute half-time (U7s play 20 minute halves).
U8 teams play small-sided soccer with six players playing against another team of six players. The field is larger than the 4v4 field but remains much smaller than a regulation size field. The goal is almost twice the size as the 4v4 goal. There are goalkeepers. The game consists of two 20 minute halves and a 5 minute half-time.
U9/U10 play 8v8 soccer, and the field size will again increase. Game duration is two 25 minute halves and a 5 minute half-time.
U11-older teams play 11v11 on a full size field. Game duration is two 30 minute halves and a 5 minute half-time.

Fields:
HRSA secures Highlands Ranch Metro District fields in Highlands Ranch and Roxborough. Some games will be played in Littleton/Centennial, however efforts will be made to keep these fields as close to Highlands Ranch as possible.

Seasons:

There are two seasons per year, spring and fall. The spring season begins mid-March and ends in early May. The fall season begins the weekend after Labor Day and ends in late October or early November. Practices begin the week before the first games

U9/U10 Master Rec Minimize
U9/U10 Master Rec Program

Goal:

The goal of this program is to give HRSA players, Coaches, and families in the 8v8 leagues an opportunity for extra soccer skills training as well as the chance to play against more appropriate levels of competition. It is intended for whole teams to move into rather than individual players moving from team to team. The extra cost ($30 per player) will pay for Staff Training, and some teams will pay an additional $10 for home game Center Refs.

Benefit:

Master Rec Teams will receive Staff Training for (4) of their 45-minute practice sessions and for (1) of their games. The Staff Trainer will have a prepared lesson for each session, and will be a nationally licensed and certified soccer coach. The Staff Trainer will schedule their sessions during your regular practice time and at your specific field; no adjustment to your schedule will be necessary.

After your team's first Master Rec season, depending on results the option to play in more challenging leagues may be offered to your team. Cost of the Program will be dependent upon cost of your league.
